It is time to make a move…up, away or up and away. When it is time to put your home on the market, the very first thing to do is to find a professional REALTOR® (pssstttt, we can take of that for you). But what are some steps you can take to make this a smoother process both for you and your potential buyers? Here are a few little, easy things that can help.
- Clean up and de-clutter. We all realize you can’t live in a museum (it IS your home), but keep things neat and tidy and in their place. Now is not the time to hide things in the closets…people will open the closet doors! If there are things you can store away from your home that you do not need right now, this is a “less is more” time and it could help.
- Fix any obvious issues. If the railing is loose, tighten it. If a faucet leaks, fix it. Anything that will be noticed in a casual walkthrough that is fixable, consider it an investment in a greater return on your investment.
- Curb appeal! We all hear it bantered around, but it is true…make it look nice. Clean around your front entry. Keep your lawn mowed and your flower beds weeded. If you can throw in a planter with some seasonal color, do it.
These are just a few things, your professional REALTOR® can help you with more…that’s part of our job. But if you can do these few things in the beginning, your desired outcome may come sooner than you know!
